Standard Chartered Bank Kenya has announced a partnership with Glovo Kenya. The alliance will see existing Standard Chartered clients who spend KES 2000 or more on the Glovo app get two free deliveries for the month of April. The deliveries will not only cover food items but will also include groceries and over the counter pharmacy products.
The move comes in the wake of COVID-19 that has seen the government push for social distancing to curb the spread of the virus. By providing online payment and delivery services, the partnership is anticipated to help support the government’s directive by reducing physical handling of cash and minimizing foot traffic in crowded areas such as malls and dining areas.

Adding to this, William Benthall, Glovo’s General Manager for Kenya said, “As Kenya comes together to beat COVID-19, we want to play our part. We have always focussed on making grocery and food shopping faster, smoother and more convenient and we are now focused on making it the safest way for people to shop. The Minister of Health encouraged home delivery as a way for people to stay home and stay safe. Our partnership with Standard Chartered will allow more people to access this essential service and help us support the government minimize foot traffic and ensure social distancing”
This partnership will cater to residents of Nairobi, Nakuru and Mombasa.
